SMITCOMS signs a contract with Nortel Networks for the
new switch. Nortel Networks solution for SMITCOMS will
include Nortel Networks Multimedia Communication Server
5200, which uses open standards-based software and commercially
available hardware to help service providers deliver a
rich suite of multimedia and collaboration services that
can be seamlessly integrated with existing telephone services.

SMITCOMS celebrates the first corner stone laying to its
brand new state- of the art Building, featuring 3 floors
and approximately space for 21 offices. The basement or
lowest level will house the fiber optic and switching
equipment.
October 2003
Starting mid 2003, SMITCOMS embarks in an Island wide
“Reward “ campaign for SMITCARD. SMITCARD users had the
chance to win an all inclusive trip for two to Las Vegas.
The Campaign successfully helped brand and increase sales
of this product.

SMITCOMS attains an FCC 214 license thereby enabling SMITCOMS
to provide International Telecommunication services in
the USA and Puerto Rico.

SMITCOMS receives certification for establishing an affiliated
company “SMITCOMS INC”, under the laws of the state of
Delaware in the USA

SMITCOMS initiates the process to acquire a fiber optic
cable system, which would enable SMITCOMS to be connected
from the Dutch side of Sint Maarten through Puerto Rico
with the rest of the world by worldwide fiber optic cable
systems.
December 2000
SMITCOMS breaks the International Telecommunication monopoly
on Dutch Sint Maarten by spearheading the introduction
of Carrier Select and Pre-Select options and obtaining
the largest subscriber base on Dutch Sint Maarten.
September 2000
SMITCOMS announces its Commercial launch via a Press conference
followed by a Cocktail party and speeches of Government
officials, Island’s dignitaries and prominent industry
people.
May 2000
SMITCOMS is officially established under the laws of the
Netherlands Antilles, with its official place of registration
on Sint Maarten.
